Great read, lots of good information!

I have been really interested in learning about yoga and really can't afford to take classes, this is such a great alternative. The book was informative and helpful and felt like I was being taught by a friend. It was an easy read and had tons of great information. The poses are illustrated, but I would have love to see some full color photos of the poses actually being executed. The book covers the basics, poses, combos, everything that i need as a beginner. I didn't feel overwhelmed learning from this book. The author is a certified instructor and has other great credentials that made me feel confident she knew what she was talking about. Great book for beginners

This book is perfect for someone who is new to Yoga. The book has five sections. The first discusses basics and defines a lot of "yoga" words. The second section discusses the importance of practicing and having a clear space and mind for your yoga practice. The third section describes and shows illustrations of the proper poses, tells you the name of each pose, describes what benefits the pose offers, and even offers counter-poses if you are not ready for this pose yet. There are also helpful tips for each pose. Once you learn the poses the fourth section gives you lists of sequences to choose from. The fifth section discusses your diet and nutrition and how to be mindful when you eat and when making decisions of what to eat. Section six discusses the importance and types of meditation to practice. Lastly section seven discusses specialty cases like yoga over 60 and yoga while pregnant. There is also an appendix with just illustrations as a reminder and a glossary of terms in case you get confused or need to refresh your memory. A great book for someone thinking about starting a yoga regimen.
I personally LOVE doing yoga and I especially love doing it in the morning so that it sets the tone of the entire day to a relaxing and thankful feeling for being alive. Yoga is a self discipline which includes breath control, meditation, and the practicing of specific bodily postures. It improves flexibility, muscle strength, posture, spine, blood flow, bone health, immunity,and heart rate, among many other things. The reasons why I started doing yoga was to improve my muscle strength, blood flow, and posture. Being overweight with no explanation is really hard to handle, especially when you do everything under the sun and can't lose a single pound, but instead gain. Being anemic due to heavy menstrual cycles for years and little to no menstrual cycles for the last two years due to it, is a lot harder to handle than you think. It's a struggle to balance the blood flow after a menstrual cycle and take enough iron to regulate that, with the help of yoga, I have been able to regulate it more easily.
Yoga for beginners is a wonderful book with all sorts of pages filled with different facts and detailed information about Yoga, as well as 35 different poses to calm your mind and strengthen your body. It mentions the eight limbs of Yoga and what they are, the history of Yoga, the styles of Yoga, as well as what it can do for you in chapter one. In chapter two, it discusses what you need to do in order to get Yoga ready, for example, clearing space and gives you practice Yoga ideas. Chapter three is all about the essential Yoga poses whereas chapter four is all Yoga sequences and combinations of positions to put together for certain things. Then it talks about nutrition and meditation in chapters five and six. Finally, chapter seven is Yoga for you, going into advice, classes and teachers to look for.
Each page is filled with a ton of useful information for beginning Yoga users, and even intermediate, and experienced Yoga users. With lots of pictures showing the positions as well as going into detail as to how to do them the exact and correct way. The pictures are a lot of help, especially for someone who doesn't do a ton of Yoga and can't take classes in order to learn the neat tips and tricks. This teaches you all that important information, in a book, within the comfort of your own home.
