Surprising lessons on having self-respect in relationships!

Considering how many men want submissive little mail-order brides from developing countries, or large silicon breasted blondes, or mindless ninnies, or whatever, I cannot get too upset about somebody wanting to marry a wealthy person. Having said that, I must admit this book surprised me because it teaches readers a lot about setting high standards in intimate personal relationships. Anyone (male or female) who feels they have ever allowed themselves to be treated less well than they deserve, or who feels they need to raise expectations regarding what is acceptable behavior from their partner, should benefit from this author's lessons in practical psychology. And if you find that you also want to marry rich, GO FOR IT. In any case, it seems a more honourable way to gain wealth than through the sort of vile and back-stabbing political behavior one often sees in the corporate world.

A real eye-opener!!

In the summer of 2001, I had just been made redundant from a top-flight job that I enjoyed very much in the city of London. In a mood of some despondency I attended Mrs Sayles' lecture the day I collected my final pay-check. Her enthusiasm and sheer good common-sense were wonderful to behold. At the end of it, I emerged positively glowing and convinced that I would succeed and, a few days later, secured another job working in one of the top theatre companies in the world. Apparently, at my interview, the interviewees decided instantly I was "the one" - despite a list of over 150 applicants!! I'm convinced that Mrs Sayles' words helped give me the confidence I was somewhat lacking at the time. Since then, I have purchased this book and find it every bit as inspirational as her lecture, although sadly lacking the magnetism of her actual presence (hence my award of only four stars for the book)! I find, much to my amazement, that I've been following a lot of her suggestions for many years, which probably explains why I often secure jobs which put me in touch with wealthy people and allow me to enjoy a lot of the perks of great wealth. Some of it is, at first read, a bit shocking - it's a bit of a quantum leap to come to terms with her rather hard-headed stance on relationships. However, such an approach is ideal for the business world and for any area of life where one wants to succeed.
I get very irritated with those who see her as nothing more than a gold-digger. I've known too many, usually highly-intelligent, women get involved with absolute losers who have treated them like door-mats and worse! Once the marriage or relationship is over (and it always is, eventually), there is often years of misery fighting over money, especially where children are involved. At least Mrs Sayles suggests to women that they ought to pay attention to getting what they are worth from a relationship, instead of letting their hearts rule their heads. Also, hard though it may be to take, very few people want "the true you". What they want is their vision of "the true you", and Ginie shows one how to package and market that vision - she doesn't suggest that one should believe one's own publicity and become something other than what one truly is. At the end of the day, one has a choice - one can lead one's life bemoaning the fact that one never quite gets the man, the job or the lifestyle of one's dreams, or buy Ginie Sayles' book, follow her advise and go out there and get one's dream!!

BEST BOOK I EVER READ

The book actually changed my self-perception. It was referred to me by a psychiatrist who said the book was good Cognitive psychology for a positive relationship with myself and money and relationships. The message I got from Ginie Sayles in this book is that whether or not I decide to marry somebody with money is not the only point - one point is that if I meet somebody with money, I will feel equal - and now that I have read the book and put it into practice, I finally do feel equal. I really needed this.

Troen concludes that if Palestinian Arabs become reconciled to a Jewish state, Israel will reassign priority to the social and economic development of the country and region.

Ilan Troen's Imagining Zion may well be the very most important book to appear in many years on patterns of Jewish settlement in Palestine/Israel. At a time when much discussion is devoted to Jewish settlement and, related to that, the very legitimacy of the Zionist enterprise in the Land of Israel, Troen's balanced and highly informative book is a must read. Thoroughly researched, lucidly written, and informed by an intimate familiarity with comparative materials (the author was an urban historian of the United States before switching to the history of the Yishuv), this book serves as a much needed corrective to the spate of essays that have recently appeared lining the modern state of Israel in most superficial ways to so-called settler states such as French Algeria and South Africa. In telling the compelling story of Zionist achievement, the author never loses sight of how the Jewish community in the Land of Israel envisioned the master plan of Zionist development and also took into consideration its impact on the indigenous Arab population. This highly nuanced and extremely informative book should attract audiences drawn from a wide range of academic disciplines. It is not only very timely, it has the virtue of being written in very accessible prose.

Stuart Jaffe has given me back my love of mysteries.

Mystery, suspense, a touch of romance and paranormal action blended perfectly together. The wonderful way local history is woven in and handed to the reader to place you right there. Makes you want to visit, stay at a B&B and go exploring! I really appreciate the way the author stays true to the characters, revealing only enough to suit the story to be told. One can clearly picture a office with Private Eye stenciled on the door, hazy smoke and a beautiful woman (his wife and partner) leaning over his shoulder while he is deep in thought and research. Throw in a humorous ghost of a detective from the 40's and hang for a joyous ride. I look forward to reading more from this author and these wonderful characters he has created.

Mind catching series of books...

Max porter is a great read...these are not the kind of books that keep you glued to the book, unable to put it down, rather, they are the kind that you can't wait to get back to. Humorous, informative, (much local history is interwoven within the story...kind of makes you want to take a ride to North Carolina). You must read the whole set of four books, so far...you will surely enjoy them.

I love the twists and turns in these books, im not really into the history side of any books, I just love the plots, but I have to admit these books do make you keen to absorb the setting. As much as I have loved these first three books ( the four downloaded and ready to go) I am so upset that I'm now reading the last in the series. I will wait, almost patiently, for the next.

I am one of a few people who can say I have as much in common with Jim Bridger as I do with J.R.R. Tolkien. As a young boy, I grew up on a small farm in Utah. I had all kinds of animals at one time or another. I've been rammed in the back by billy goats and rams--the kind with the huge curled horns. Yes, as a matter of fact it did hurt! I lived what I assumed to be a normal life with a large family. I don't know many people who'd skip school to read, but I did. Reading and later writing became a passion. I won the first-grade reading contest by reading several hundred books. I also made my first attempt at writing fantasy. The story featured a scary blue demon. I had just begun to realize that stories opened all sorts of places and doors that were otherwise nonexistent or unavailable in Utah. I couldn't get enough. Fast forward through Eddings, Hickman, Feist, Brooks, and so on; I devoured them all like a sugar addict does Halloween treats. I thought it was normal to own a BB gun at the age of five; a real sword (yes, it was sharp) at eight, along with machete; and various throwing stars and daggers. I have scars from most of the aforementioned. At age ten, I had my own .22 and an extremely long row of Raspberries that I was responsible for. I learned how to survive in harsh climates, start a fire with a bow drill, where and how to find water, and which plants were edible. I even learned my times tables. After high school, I worked construction for a year to save up enough money to serve a mission for the LDS church. I spent two years in Berlin and the surrounding area where I got assaulted by skinheads for being an Ausl�nder i.e. foreigner. I talked with a lot of awesome people and some crazy ones and saw for the first time how different my life was from most people's. I grew up a lot and found out more about the world. After being a VP at a company and later starting my own business, I then moved into real estate. None of them left me excited at the end of the day. I'd love books that kept me up until the wee hours of the morning, and left me wanting more. I wanted to create the same feeling for others, so I started writing. I'm not one to do things halfway so I decided that I'd pour my heart and soul into what I love writing.

Good start for what's hopefully a new series

First book in what I hope becomes a series. That being said, if it does become a series, there needs to be more back story into the character. The pace was somewhere between steady and fast and in the characters stood out to me as original, in a genre overburdened by zombies and vampires. My only real complaint was the final battle portion of the story, and even it really isn't a complaint, more an opinion. It felt a bit long winded to me. Every time the battle was just about over, the big baddie pulled another trick out of his hat. I read it on the kindle app, so there are a few some editing mistakes. But not enough to distract from a good story.

I loved the witty humor of the main character Dane! I was laughing with him all the way. It was suspenseful and you don't know what trouble He is going to get into each chapter. I felt sorry for him and I cheered for him. I loved how the author introduced all the characters and the places that Dane had to interact with. You never put technology and magic together and I loved how the author did that. I would love my own personal "computer assistant" Tina!
It is a book that I keep thinking about. I really hope that Linc Hansen will write a sequel or other books. I would read another one of his books.

A Hero In Cowboy Boots

An excellent read for teens and adults. I was hooked by the second chapter and didn't want to put the book down! The author makes you identify with Dane, makes the hero human with just enough magic and mystery to keep the suspense. Enough action to keep the story moving. Can't wait for the next installment of a promising new series! Best of luck to a new author and look forward to more background on the bloodline that protects us from the monsters among us!

This is an excellent historical reference book but it's not exactly what I expected. This publication is more of a tutorial meant as a source for educational purposes and those in the teaching field.

I needed the textbook for a class and this one was is good condition (though a bit dirty, but that wasn't hard to take care of) and I got it for a VERY good price.
