About the Author
Rebecca K. Miller is head of library learning services at the Pennsylvania State University. Along with Heather Moorefield-Lang and Carolyn Meier, she has coauthored two books published by ALA Editions, coauthored a previous issue of Library Technology Reports, and copresented numerous presentations, webinars, and workshops on the topic of tablets and mobile devices in libraries.

Heather Moorefield-Lang is an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina in the School of Library and Information Science. She is the chair of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Best Websites for Teaching and Learning Committee. Her research is focused on technology integration in education and libraries.

Carolyn Meier is a learning services librarian and coordinates first-year instruction in Newman Library at Virginia Tech. She has an EDS in instructional technology from Virginia Tech. A past cochair of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) Transition to College Committee, her work and research interests focus on information literacy, assessment, and new methods for improving instruction and finding new technologies to reach students.

Sad for the book to end

I am so glad I picked this book for review. I had no idea it was based on a new movie coming out until I received it in the mail. Having God save my marriage personally I could relate to many things in this story.
I just love the character Miss Clara, I wish she was my friend and neighbor. Such an awesome and encouraging woman of God. I was sad for this book to end. I looked forward to sitting down and reading it. I want to see the movie now, but I am so glad I read the book first.
I have a renewed fire in me now. I want to have a closer relationship with the Lord. I want to go back to praying for the needs of my family, friends loved ones and strangers I meet. I feel like I have slacked off in that area of my life. This book has inspired me to try again. To seek the Lord in a new way. It has opened a door for me and I am excited. Now I don't know if this story will do that for you, but I sure am glad I read this book.
It isn't a "self help" or "this is the way to get God to move" book. It is a fictional story as far as I know. It's just such a wonderfully inspiring story. I like how it doesn't portray Christians as "perfect and having it all together". They make it clear it is through a relationship with Jesus that things can change in your life. Grace is shown throughout this story and that is so important.
I got so much enjoyment from this story. I felt a range of emotions and I was able to get lost in the story. I felt like I knew this family. It is such a sweet approach to an important part of Christianity. Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with Jesus.
In the back of the book there are discussion questions. So, if you want to get a small group going, the questions are back there for you already. Also there are color photos in the center of the book from the movie making. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Jesus. Also if you enjoyed Fireproof & Courageous you will probably enjoy this one as well.

This book changed me

This book is changing my life. I don’t say that about a lot of fiction books but this one opened to my eyes to an area I have been weak in: prayer.
This book portrays realistically the way a marriage can crumble, the way a woman can place all the blame on her husband and not see her own part in it, the temptations a man can face, the wounds of a young daughter.
As someone who has walked through pain in their marriage and healing I can tell you they way the healing is shown is true. It might be a bit faster because it is a book but it isn’t instant. There is anger below the surface from betrayal and Chris showed that.
Miss Clara is wonderful character, someone we all need in our lives who spurs us on and is honest with us. The book holds true to the fact that God doesn’t always answer when we want or how we want but He is always listening.
This is an excellent book and I can’t wait to see the movie that will be coming out August 28th.

Amazing!!

What an amazing book! I couldn't put this book down! I literally read it in two days. This book is such a wake up call for Christians. Praying is a powerful weapon for Christians to use and we don't seem to tap into that power. This book made me see the flaws in my own prayer life and lit a fire under me to start a new in my prayer life. Chris does any awesome job with the novelization of the movie. I loved Ms. Clara's character. She made me want to be better as a mother and wife and Christian. I felt drawn to Elizabeth and her problems and needs. I could see myself in her somewhat, I don't have all the same problems but I could see similarities in my life and hers. I can't wait to share this book with everyone I know. It makes me want to shout from the roof tops!

I feel the need in my own life for a prayer change and I know anyone who reads this book will be changed. Read this and then give your copy to a friend. Let's start a prayer revival!

Janice Koch is Professor Emeritus of Science Education in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Hofstra University, Long Island, New York. She developed and taught science education courses to elementary, middle, and secondary pre-and in-service teachers. Additionally, she taught courses addressing: Introduction to Education, Action Research, Qualitative Research, and Gender Issues in the classroom. Dr. Koch shares her passion for teaching and learning through presentations as well as through her introduction to education text TEACH, 3rd Edition (2016, Cengage Learning). Her acclaimed textbook SCIENCE STORIES has been used by thousands of pre-service and in-service educators interested in creating meaningful science experiences for their students. She and her husband currently reside in Central Maryland, where she consults on education projects across the country and internationally and evaluates grant funded science education initiatives. She presented her work at Oxford University in 2014.

Glad my teacher chose this one!

It was the required text for my credential pre-requisite class. Compact and flashy with online interactive options. Probably one of the best features is that there is a quick-study portion in the back that reviews vocabulary and key points. These review pages are designed to be torn out and used as quick reference guides. I thought it was cleverly designed and produced. The content is reasonably current and spans a lot of information clearly intended for beginner teachers to use during their study, with everything from the history of American education to teacher attitudes and technology. Overall, I'm glad I have it.

K. F. Riley read mathematics at the University of Cambridge and proceeded to a Ph.D. there in theoretical and experimental nuclear physics. He became a Research Associate in elementary particle physics at Brookhaven, and then, having taken up a lectureship at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, continued this research at the Rutherford Laboratory and Stanford; in particular he was involved in the experimental discovery of a number of the early baryonic resonances. As well as having been Senior Tutor at Clare College, where he has taught physics and mathematics for over 40 years, he has served on many committees concerned with the teaching and examining of these subjects at all levels of tertiary and undergraduate education. He is also one of the authors of 200 Puzzling Physics Problems.

M. P. Hobson read natural sciences at the University of Cambridge, specialising in theoretical physics, and remained at the Cavendish Laboratory to complete a Ph.D. in the physics of star-formation. As a Research Fellow at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and subsequently an Advanced Fellow of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council, he developed an interest in cosmology, and in particular in the study of fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background. He was involved in the first detection of these fluctuations using a ground-based interferometer. Currently a University Reader at the Cavendish Laboratory, his research interests include both theoretical and observational aspects of cosmology, and he is the principal author of General Relativity: An Introduction for Physicists. He is also a Director of Studies in Natural Sciences at Trinity Hall and enjoys an active role in the teaching of undergraduate physics and mathematics.

Kane had dedicated much of her short life to the understanding, exploration and (re)invention of drama. While still at school she started writing and acting, activities which she continued at university, where she further experimented with theatre and where she also took up directing. After leaving the University of Bristol with a First Class Honours Degree in drama studies, she enrolled at Birmingham University and crowned her education with a Master's degree in playwriting. After several minor dramatic experiments, staged as student productions in unofficial venues, her first full-length play, Blasted, premi�red at the Royal Court Theatre in London in January 1995. The play immediately became notorious for its depiction of all kinds of physical and verbal violence for which it was fiercely attacked by both public opinion and reviewers. The fact that the plays which followed contained many unspeakable scenes of sheer cruelty, earned her the reputation as the enfant terrible of contemporary British drama. During her brief career Sarah Kane created a body of work that brought her both success and notoriety. Her controversial theatre divided critics and audiences from the beginning. While some attacked her persistently, others recognised her as a new voice, and after she explored and discovered different linguistic and theatrical devices, critical approval followed.
